POST-GRADUATE DIPLOMA "BUSINESS WITH MULTILATERAL INSTITUTIONS: INTERNATIONAL TENDERS AND PROJECT CYCLE MANAGEMENT"

This post-graduate course is offered jointly with ESCUELA ESPAÑOLA DE NEGOCIOS INTERNACIONALES (download its catalog of on-line Masters and Diplomas on international business and relations), offers a large amount of information and practical examples of the opportunities offered by the procurement of International and European (multilateral) institutions, as well as from bilateral agencies and governments of emerging or transition countries. The Diploma course material is complemented with 8 exercises which cover the different stages of prequalifying, bidding, winning and managing of an international project- all derived from real contracts implemented for international development institutions or government- funded projects (read to whom it is addressed). MODULE 1: GENERAL OVERVIEW: MAIN INTERNATIONAL AGENCIES AND INSTITUTIONS FUNDING DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS

1.3 The Agencies and Programmes of the United Nations System.

1.4 The Regional Development Banks: IDB, ADB, AfDB, ERDB; and other development sub-regional banks (AFC, CIEB, CDB, etc.)

1.5 Bilateral Development Agencies (USAID, GTZ, AECI, etc.), Foundations and Funds.

MODULE 2: PRELIMINARY TASKS IN AN INTERNATIONAL PROJECT (10 HOURS)

2.1 Introduction to International Projects and Tenders.

2.4 Preliminary Work Plan and Schedule development.

2.5 Partners search, consortium set-up, pre-bid agreement and management fees.

MODULE 3: PROJECT CYCLE MANAGEMENT OF DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS

6.2 International PROJECT MANAGEMENT fundamentals according to the PMBOK of PMI.

6.3 The Project Management Institute (PMI) techniques and templates in the development project context.

6.4 Time, scope and risk management in development projects.

8.3 Negotiation tactics: direct, persuasive, defensive, agressive.

8.4. The negotiation team.

8.5. Negotiation strategy: How to propose, make concessions, introduce bargaining chips, confront objections, etc.
