Assistance and Training Small and Medium-sized Enterprises in Hungary

The
Hungarian government set up an Agency to promote and assist Small and
Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) in the new market economy - the Hungarian Foundation
for Enterprise Promotion (MVA in Hungarian). The agency has been assisting SMEs
with a mix of financial and non-financial support programmes, including a nation-wide
micro-credit scheme.
Corporate Solutions SA undertook
a comprehensive review of the policies, programmes and instruments to support
small and medium-sized enterprises in the country. It assisted with programme
evaluation techniques, with defining new policies and budgets and in redesigned
the micro-credit scheme. All these recommendations and policies were fully described,
negotiated and discussed with the different Ministries, agencies and other parties
involved in SME development (associations, etc.)
This first
project was followed by four other projects in the same field:
Development
and description of new SME development programmes, including innovation, e-business,
incubator and training programmes.
Assistance
to describe the procedures and supervision of the reformed Micro-credit scheme
Consultancy
and training to a large number of companies (over 500) in the Northeast of the
country looking to obtain a credit or grants of any type. This involved over 40
seminars throughout the region on e-procurement, supply chain management and micro-credits.
Assistance
in defining the procedures and organisation of a venture capital fund for innovative
start-ups and small companies in the region and operational assistance it launching
it.
Projects such as these help Hungarian firms to remain competitive
and direct their exports, both products and services, to the fiercely competitive markets abroad.
